PlayStation 4 coming to India this year
It looks like Sony will be getting a headstart
in India with its next-gen console—the PlayStation 4. PlayStation India
Country Manager Atindrya Bose revealed to IndianVideoGamer that
Sony is attempting a simultaneous launch of the console in both Europe
and India. The only things that could delay the console could be
logistical issues or certification issues, but even then, the console
will only be delayed by a month.
“It will be matched with the European launch; give or take a bit to account for Indian logistics. The consoles have to be shipped in advance and currently all consoles also require certification for the India market. In terms of targeting, we’re looking to synchronise with the European launch,” Bose told IVG. “That’s this year.”
Just recently, Indian game retailer Game4u has started taking pre-orders for the console. The console can be pre-ordered from either Game4u's brick-and-mortar stores or from the company's website.
To pre-order, those interested will have to pay Rs 3,000. Once the console is launched in the country, those who have booked the console can pick it up and pay the remainder of the cost. The company does point out on its PlayStation 4 page, however, that Sony hasn't yet announced a release date or price for the console in India.
Back during its pre-E3 press conference, Sony had announced that the PlayStation 4 will be launched in November and will cost $399 (Rs 23,300 approx) in the US, which is $100 less than rival Microsoft's console, the Xbox One, which is priced at $499 (Rs 28,900 approx).
