ClearTrip's Android app now allows users to book IRCTC train tickets

ClearTrip.com has updated its Android application to allow users to book IRCTC train tickets from within the app. Once they’ve updated the app to version 3.0, users will be able to search for trains as well as book tickets on the go. In addition to that, it will also be possible to check the PNR status of tickets that are in waiting. The app can be used to find trains between stations, availability of seats, train fares, et al. The updated app also features fixes to some previously known bugs.

The ClearTrip Android app already allows users to book domestic and international air tickets, access their recent searches and pay via credit card, debit card or net banking. Users can also access their trips and bookings on their mobile device even when offline. Android users will require devices running v2.3.3 and up to be able to use the app. Here’s the link to download the app off the Google Play store.

Considering how popular train travel is in our country, the ability to book IRCTC train tickets on the go will be a welcome plus for the app. Incidentally, IRCTC’s SMS-based ticketing service went live recently. This SMS-based ticket service can be availed through two numbers – 139 and 5676714. It works on the most basic phones and does not require an active Internet connection. The user will receive the ticket details via SMS upon booking. He can then produce the SMS and an original, valid ID proof on the day of his travel.
