Spice launches a cloud storage service for its smartphones and tablets
Mobile phone manufacturer Spice has launched a
new cloud service dubbed Spice Cloud for its smartphones and tablets.
Spice Cloud lets you store your files on the cloud, schedule backups,
and is also said to include anti-theft features to protect your data.
Similar to Samsung's mobile tracker and remote locking service, Spice
Cloud also has a feature that will let you locate your Spice mobile
phone through the website.
The service lets you access and share files, and control your device remotely. You can even view your phone's call logs via the service's Web interface. If you think your phone's been stolen, you can remotely wipe all the data on it too. Spice Cloud provides users with 2GB of free space. Owners of Spice handsets can sign up for the service at www.spicecloud.in.
Commenting on the launch, T M Ramakrishnan, CEO – Devices, S Mobility Ltd, said, “The potential for cloud services uptake in India and other emerging markets is phenomenal. Spice consumers will enjoy enormous benefits from cloud services, including the flexibility to access files and data anywhere. They can even use the remote wipe option in case of theft or loss of their smartphones, ensuring data security. The cloud services reflect Spice’s focus on constant innovation and technology advancement to deliver superlative user experience.”
The company has bundled the cloud storage service with its newest smartphone, the Stellar Virtuoso Pro. This smartphone is powered by a dual-core processor and is the successor to the Stellar Virtuoso. The Stellar Virtuoso Pro runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, sports a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, and also has a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Spice has priced the Stellar Virtuoso Pro at Rs 7,999.
